Panel discussion [OFC x ECA]: Sexting, Consent and the Law

We conducted a panel discussion on Sexting, Consent and the Law on the 1st December in collaboration with End Cyber Abuse. Our discussion varied on how important spreading awareness is, the influence of the law and how it lacks tools to eradicate cyber abuse on its own and the need for a holistic approach towards awareness building. This event was a part of the series of events around promoting active Bystander Intervention for the 16 days activism campaign at OFC.

Twitter chat: Justice

We hosted a Twitter chat on Redefining Justice on the 3rd December to explore different, newer and more ways in which we can imagine justice. This chat was a part of the series of events around promoting active Bystander Intervention for the 16 days activism campaign at OFC.

Night walk: Reclaim the City

We took a walk around Carter Road, Bandra with a bunch of 20+ people on the 4th of December. The idea of the walk was for us to occupy public spaces without purpose, to reclaim the night and city spaces and to re-examine what it means to build a sustainable and therefore feminist city. This event was a part of the series of events around promoting active Bystander Intervention for the 16 days activism campaign at OFC.

Workshop: In Association with St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai

On the 5th December, our team member Jerin Jacob hosted a workshop on Gender Sensitisation for students of a BMC school in Lower Parel in association with the Social Service Club of St. Xavier’s College. The session built hope in us about how change begins well when started with the youngest among us.

Panel Discussion: FemmeCon

Ashita Alag, our Program Officer at the FemJustice Legal Center was a panelist at the panel discussion on 8th December at India International Center, New Delhi at FemmeCon, India’s first women’s health festival organised by Thea Care. They discussed women’s health and welfare issues around the law’s standing on abortion and the gaps that need to be filled and workplace sexual harassment law among other important topics.

Tweetchat & Poster Release: Feminist Principles at the Workplace

On the 9th of December, over a tweetchat on Feminist Principles at the Workplace, we discussed how we can further feminist leadership at workplaces. This is a poster of community curated principles we created as a part of the tweetchat in larger sync with the Bystander Intervention campaign to eradicate gender based violence.

Workshop: Queer Rights, Wilson’s College

We were invited to host a Gender Sensitisation and awareness workshop around debunking myths and facts around queer identities on the 9th December at Wilson’s College at their Human Rights Festival. Our team members Jerin Jacob and Harshil Shah engaged in conversation with about 50+ attendees during the workshop.

Twitter Chat: Bystander Intervention

We hosted a tweetchat on Bystander Intervention on the 10th of January which debunked concepts of intervention in the contemporary context. This chat was a part of the series of events around promoting active Bystander Intervention for the 16 days activism campaign at OFC.

Ideas Lab: Queer Resource Center | Research

Our Queer Resource Center hosted an Ideas Lab on the 14th of December which proved to be an immensely insightful session for all those who attended.

Workshops: Feminist Justice, Delhi

On 14th December, we hosted our workshops on Introduction to Feminist Justice in Delhi. We introduced lawyers, students, social activists to the concept on feminist lawyering and spoke about practices to bring gender equitable perspectives, learnt about trauma informed approach and altered ways of handling cases. This event was a part of the series of events around promoting active Bystander Intervention for the 16 days activism campaign at OFC.

Workshop: Global Shapers Team, Bangalore

We conducted a Gender Sensitisation and PoSH training session for the Global Shapers Bangalore team on the 14th of December. The session equipped the Shapers with tools and resources to create the future of work and workplaces that address the pressing need for gender equality.

Sanskaari Girls Book Club Meetup: Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai

Our Sanskaari Girls Book Club meetups happened across Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore on the 15th of December. These meetups saw amazing conversations around the book Karukku by Bama, the tenth Sanskaari text to be discussed.

Panel Discussion: LGBTQ+ Community after the Decriminalisation of Section 377, St. Paul’s Institute of Communication

Shruti Venkatesh from our team was invited by Mediathon for their Pride Panel on the LGBTQ+ Community after the Decriminalisation of Section 377. The panel covered various issues ranging from identities, inclusion, being allies within the community and outside, the trans bill, surrogacy bill, the CAA-NRC, and other structural barriers and challenges faced by queer people.
