Social Leadership Training Program: Belabai M. Morarka Vidya Mandir, Nawalgarh, Rajasthan

The youth social leadership training program is an initiative by One Future Collective (OFC) to bridge the personal social leadership and knowledge gap amongst young Indians on issues that they care about. This program was carried out at Belabai M. Morarka Vidya Mandir, Nawalgarh, Rajasthan from 10th to 20th July, 2019, with a focus on three areas of intervention: learning, mentoring, social impact project implementation. Our team, led by Vandita Morarka, Jerin Jacob, and Prerna Laddha, executed this project with 35 students of grades 9th and 11th. Read our detailed report here.

Interactive Session: She-Telling Biblical Narratives

Our COO, Jerin Jacob hosted an interactive session cum workshop on She-Telling Biblical Narratives on 10th July during the Twice Told annual event hosted by The Curious Reader. She looked an analysing female narratives in the Bible and looked at local retellings of these in the Indian context. This event was a collaboration between The Curious Reader and One Future Collective’s Sanskaari Girls Book Club.

Workshops: Public Policy, Climate Change and Conflict, Jai Hind College

Our founder, Vandita Morarka trained over 40 students in introduction to public policy and in understanding climate change and conflict at Jai Hind College, towards credits for completion of their degrees. This session took place on the 24th and 25th of July.

Youth Meetup: Fashion and Sustainability, Mumbai

The One Future Meetup on Fashion and Sustainability happened on the 28th of July and saw a varied bunch of enthusiastic participants, all eager to learn, discuss and understand sustainable fashion, it’s impact, working and necessity in today’s times. We partnered with Lean In Sustainability for the meetup and were hosted by 91springboard, Andheri.

National Consultation on Adolescent Health, New Delhi

We were represented by Vidur Kapoor at the youth led National Consultation on Adolescent Health on the 28-29th July in New Delhi hosted in collaboration with the YP Foundation and Population Foundation of India. The consultation was a follow up of the previously held regional consultations and aimed at accelerating adolescent and youth health with participation from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Interactive Session: Sexual Harassment Laws in India, SIES College

Our Founder, Vandita Morarka was invited to the launch of this years work of the SIES gender sensitisation cell and led an interactive session on what the law says about sexual violence and domestic violence in India. This launch was held on the 29th of July.

Gamification: FemmeCon, Delhi

We were gamification partners for the FemmeCon Kickoff in Delhi by Thea Care and designed a fun puzzle to get people talking about the female reproductive system.

We have also been undertaking research, diversity and inclusion training for corporates, and gamification for social education over the past month.

The OFC team came together for a games and potluck evening on the 27th of July. The evening saw lots of informal catching up and sharing amidst fun and laughter.

Workshop and Discussion: Rage Becomes Her

We’re excited to be collaborating with Bibliotherapy for a amazing discussion and workshop around female anger within feminist and mental health histories. We’ll be discussing Rage Becomes Her by Soraya Chemaly on the 10th August.

Project Launch and Open Mic Night: FemJustice

We are excited about launching our brand new project and invite all in town to attend our Open Mic Night on the 17th of August in Mumbai.

The One Future Fellowship

The One Future Fellowship is all set to commence on the 4th of August. We have 15 amazing fellows shortlisted for the first cohort of the fellowship and we can’t wait to begin this splendid journey with them.

Sanskaari Girls Book Club Meetups

The Sanskaari Girls Book Club meetups will be hosted across cities in the month of August. We will be discussing Meena Kandasamy’s anthology Ms. Militancy alongwith the article ‘The Poetry of Meena Kandasamy: A Tool of Political Dissent‘ by Jerin Anne Jacob as additional reading for the same this month.
