In 2023, we collaborated with Tiger Baby Films to develop and deliver specialised gender sensitisation workshops for their production team. This initiative was designed to support their groundbreaking web series featuring transgender actors, ensuring a respectful and inclusive filming environment.
Snapshot of the Partnership
The collaboration unfolded through a carefully structured timeline, ensuring that the training aligned with the production’s needs. We engaged directly with crew members across different roles, tailoring the sessions to address real-world challenges faced on set. Given the fast-paced nature of the film industry, we adapted our approach to deliver high-impact learning within a short timeframe.
“The TBF consultancy was a fast-paced and dynamic experience, requiring us to train the entire crew support—from stylists to labour workers (if that’s the term? Spot dadas)—on PoSH and gender within just an hour. With such a short turnaround time, the focus naturally shifted from deep mindset shifts to building foundational awareness. Despite the time constraints, we successfully sparked dialogue on what a gender-affirmative space looks like in practice.”

Our Impact
Our review revealed several key areas for intervention. A primary focus was on ensuring that crew members, including stylists, spot dadas, and other behind-the-scenes workers, understood their role in fostering an inclusive environment. The workshop sessions were designed to be engaging and interactive, drawing from practical, real-life scenarios to drive home key learnings.
“Discussions emerged around role-specific responsibilities, with stylists exploring appropriate communication with labour workers (spot dadas), who, in turn, engaged in conversations about pronouns and respectful workplace interactions. What made this session particularly interesting was the mix of perspectives and experiences in the room. Crew members who had never engaged with these topics before were not just passive listeners but actively contributed, questioning norms and reflecting on their own roles in fostering a safer work environment.”

Through a mix of structured exercises and open discussions, we encouraged participants to challenge stereotypes, reconsider gender norms, and think critically about representation in cinema. A key outcome was a shared understanding of how small, everyday actions contribute to a larger culture of respect and inclusion on set.
Looking Forward
Our collaboration with Tiger Baby Films has laid the groundwork for more inclusive production practices. By integrating gender sensitization into their workflow, the team now has a framework to ensure safer, more respectful environments for transgender actors and crew members.
“Instead of overwhelming participants with jargon-heavy concepts, we broke things down into real-life workplace scenarios, encouraging practical discussions on the do’s and don’ts of respectful conduct. The session, though brief, became a space for active participation, reinforcing that even short consultancies can pave the way for meaningful conversations and cultural shifts.”
