Get to know the fabulous people behind the magic at One Future Collective!

Priyanshi Vakharia, Project Officer, Feminist Justice

Tell us about yourself!
I’m a third year law student at the Government Law College, Mumbai with an undeniable flair for the dramatic — whether it’s drama (I double up as a speech and drama teacher sometimes to spread the love) or flouncy flourishes in my writing or just general garrulity.

Tell us about what you do at One Future Collective.
I’m a part of the Legal Reform team — specifically, I’m the Program Officer for Feminist Justice at OFC. I assist with the Legal Reform Institute and double as a facilitator every now and again.

Why One Future Collective?
OFC is accessible and warm and awe-inspiring! I work best in environments which are open and encouraging — and there’s something wonderfully motivating about working with a group of people who are just that. OFC is such a huge part of my life now — whether it’s helping facilitate workshops or reading up for my role or checking out OFC’s instagram updates, it’s not ‘work’ at OFC. It’s a beautiful process of learning and discovering and discussing and I love the impact and positivity it’s had on me.

Your favourite One Future Collective memory.
I have lots of little anecdotes and instances from the past year but my personal favourite still remains working for my first ever article. I wanted to do a piece on the Bhima Koregaon raids right after the activists were arrested. As luck would have it, I managed to snag a spot at the press conference held at the Mumbai Press Club by a bunch of civil rights groups. I was so excited with my little dose of investigative journalism, that I typed up the report and sent it in immediately!

What inspires you?
Effort, struggle, perseverance — and then having that sort of hard work really pay off.

Top three book/song recommendations or both.
Exodus by Leon Uris, Imperium by Robert Harris, and Keane’s entire 2012 album ‘Strangeland’, but if I had to pick one song then ‘Day Will Come’.
