Anushka realised that writing was her medium of expressing herself at a young age. She puts identity at the centre of her work, exploring through the lens of gender, sexuality and mental health in particular. She believes that language is a reflection of society and its inherent power structures, and she is always reflecting on ways to make it more accommodating for all identities. She also enjoys learning about different cultures through learning new languages and is currently on her intermediate level of Japese.
Anushka has been a Content Writing Intern at The Voice of Woman where she wrote about the intersections of gender with healthcare, lifestyle, sexuality and personal relations. She has also been a part of multiple zines that focused on exploring the queer relationships through an Asian identity. She also wrote regularly for her college magazine, Ruiaite Monthly.
Anushka was a Top 30 winner in the Wingword Poetry Prize, 2020 and was published in the anthology for the same. She has also been published in Liminality: A Magazine of Speculative Poetry.
Anushka graduated from Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College with a major in English Literature. She hopes to keep creating tiny ripples of change through her words.
